சொல் மனிதா!

பூவின் வாசம் பூவிர்க்கின்றி பிறர்க்கே
குழலின் ஓசை அதற்கின்றி உனக்கே

தன் நீரை  தானே குடிப்பதில்லை தண்ணீர்
தன்பசிக்கொரு கனி பறிப்பதில்லை மரமே

தன் சுவாசத்திற்கு வீசவில்லை காற்று
தான் குளிரவே  பெய்வதில்லை பெரு மழை

பூமிக்கு நீ நான் வேறில்லை
உனக்கோ நீயன்றி வேறில்லை

மழை பொய்த்து நீர் வற்றி
காடழிந்து  கடல் சுருங்கி

பனி மலை உருகி வளம் பல குன்றிட
சுய நலம் விட்டு பொது நலம் காப்பாயா ?

சொல் மனிதா? சொல் மனிதா?

My humble lyrical contribution ,more of an introspection on the impact of consumerism and human behaviour leading to depletion of natural resources..

Need a break. I am a woman.

While opening the doors for me, ushering me in with the cliche' - 'ladies first' is all too archaic, I still like the fact that women are the first to be rescued from falling planes and sinking ships.

Believe me when I say I don't crave for equality. There are some things I cannot do. And some things I do not want to do. The need to do all that men can do is so unambitious.

I am actually okay being myself. I became a woman consciously. Biological features just happened to be. I am that limited-single-edition.

Undue glorifications of my very existence and my efforts do very little to please me. Save them. I can take it in my stride.

And I am strong already. Like the strongest Ant among Ants or the strongest Elephant among the Elephants.  It is your idea of my strength that needs a little tweaking.

I am tired of being compared to a tea bag in hot water, solid rock with a melting heart, or the rust-proof iron pillar.

Thank god March 8th comes only once a year. I need a break. I am a woman.
